Do Realtors Share their Secrets?

Information is available today from a vast number of places, but unfortunately not all information is created equally. It used to be that buyers and sellers went to Realtors and had to trust what ever they were told. Today, any person with a computer and internet access, regardless of experience, knowledge or understanding of what the data might mean can find and/or publish information that appears credible and valuable. In fact, we almost have too much information these days. Run a search on any topic and you will find thousands of pages of information. Finding information is easy--but sorting through it to determine what is good for consumption may be another story. So, the question is: Do Realtors and Realtor Blogger tell us everything that they know? or Do Realtors have untold secrets?

Well, the simple truth is, I could blog all day long, every day, and still not be capable of addressing every question or every important detail of information that would be required to do my job well. Every transaction, every seller, every buyer, every contract, agent engagement, and situation is unique. Like any profession--Practicing Real Estate is more than a collection of "boiler plate" events that are the same each time you go through the motions. Rote process and practice helps an experienced Realtor get from home definition to home discovery, and from contract to close, but the details of each transaction is unique each and every time.

Do Realtors share all of their secrets? No. At least not on one blog site, in one sitting or all the things that one would need to know to get from the beginning of a deal to the end of a deal successfully. There are too many last minute left turns in every transaction to anticipate or guide a buyer through without first hand preview to what is happening. Only a practitioner just getting started in the business would be able to tell you all that they know at one time--and that may not be very helpful. In the end, the difference between reading information about what to do for a living and doing what you do for a living, are usually two different things. Two really different things. Realtors may not be trying to keep secrets--but if every situation is unique, it just sometimes happens naturally.
