New Area Code is Coming: 737

Get ready Austin. Move over 512. There is a new kid in town and we have his number--737. Well, we knew it would happen one day and that day is just around the corner.

If you have a 512 area code today, your number will not change, but by this time next year you will start having to dial 10 digits and no longer can you assume that the area code for Central Texas will be 512. New numbers issued will start with 737. Although the change was not slated to begin until next summer, don't be surprised if this gets moved up.

Now we will have one more way to tell who just got off the bus from the west coast by their new telephone exchange. I wonder if I can sell my old number on Ebay?

(Classes on 10 digit dialing will be offered to Realtors in the Central Texas area).
